BOIFUN Portable Monitor Z1-7

This screen is awesome, delivers surprising specs and sleek lines for a business-minded travel monitor or can be used for pleasure, like watching movies and gaming. It's a nifty second-screen complement for a midsize laptop that has USB Type-C.

I love it because of the adoption of USB Type-C connectivitywith its ability to transfer power, data, and video over a single cable, that is amazing.

Colors are very naturally looking and therefore has an exceptional non strenuous brightness.

IT comes with a magnetic leather feel case attached, which gives a really nice premium touch to it and great protection to the screen

I purchased another brand portable monitor previously to give me more work-space than the small screen on my work laptop offers. The monitor turned out to be usable, but no matter how much I adjusted the settings the resolution and color output was very sub-par, so I thought I would give this one a try and see if it was any better.

In the box was the monitor (obviously), magnetic cover, AC power adapter, USB-C Cable , USB 2.0 cable, Mini HDMI Cable, and a USB to Micro USB adapter. Sounds like a lot of cables, but the monitor is able to be powered a number of ways and these cables and adapter cover most of the options.

Set-up was easy, especially since I was replacing a similar monitor already in use. The monitor is attached to the cover/stand via magnets built into the cover. I simply opened the cover and sat on my desktop using the cover portion as the base. (There is a recess in the cover that the bottom of the monitor sits in, holding it in place and at a good viewing angle.)

After that I simply plugged in the USB-C cable to my laptop docking station and the monitor turned on and was ready to use. (On my set-up the USB-C cable provides the power and carries the video and audio signal.)

Right away I could tell a huge difference in the screen and resolution quality of this BOIFUN monitor as compared to the Lepow monitor I was using previously, even though the specs are similar. Even without making any adjustment The BOIFUN monitor has much better color accuracy and text is much crisper and easier to read. I can also detect no distortion, flicker, or any dead pixels.

I've used the built-in speakers and microphone s on a few Skype calls and the sound and clarity was good, again beating out my previous portable monitor.

So far I am very pleased with this portable monitor. If I experience any issues I will update this review.

We are very satisfied with our new purchase of the Boifun monitor. Very easy to plug in and use just in a few minutes. No worry about charging as it is always ready to use with desired and diverse equipment. It is light and compact to transport and store. The image quality is excellent and remarkable. This screen is very useful on a daily basis with the computer, the smartphone and the video games. It also helps to avoid monopolizing the family televison for video games. We used to do exercises with videos on the sma rtphone and now we have this 15+inch image that makes this activity more enjoyable. Same satisfaction whwn we now watch series with the monitor instead of the smartphone. Honestly, we are more than satisfied with the new possibilities that this monitor offers us on a daily basis.

First things is first, the customer service from the BOIFUN team is absolutely amazing. I received a defective product and they immediately help me fix the issue. 5/5 stars... truly worth buying just because of their customer support.

Okay, onto the review. If you're looking for a portable monitor that can be powered using one cord, this MORE than does the job. It honestly outperformed some of my other main brand displays.

Pros:
1. The colors are fantastic. I'm not sure if you can tell on my 6 second video, but the colors are truly amazing. The screen is also bright and clear. It's really what you would expect from an IPS screen.
2. The one cord capability with USB C/Thunderbolt is what makes this monitor absolutely special. I had a 27 in. ASUS monitor... but after using this, I ditched the big display for flexibility and daily usage. Now I can work from anywhere and don't need to be confined to my desk. Amazing.
3. HDMI signal works great, too. I experienced very little latency. Definitely good enough for gaming (unless you're a stickler/a smash player).
4. Love the quality of this monitor. I'm not sure if it is metal/aluminum, but it has a nice weight and feels very solid.
5. Cover is a nice touch. It really was much better than I thought it would be. It has is magnetic and can be easily removed.
6. This monitor has a FLAT back and it's super thin. This is one of the qualities I was looking for in a monitor. I didn't like how other budget monitors has a bevel and it goes thinner. Honestly, I think it makes handling/ergonomics much more awkward and doesn't sit flat on a desk without a cover. This is much more versatile and feels almost like a tablet in terms of handling.
7. Pencil hole thing comes in handy more times than you'd think... it's a nice touch.

Cons:
*take this with a grain of salt, I'm a picky consumer so even though I give some items 5 stars, I still always give feedback!
1. The OSB micro USB is... not sure... it can be useful, but the adapter that comes with it is extremely shallow so my mouse's USB A connector almost feels like it's going to pop off every time. It works, but it definitely doesn't look great and the connection is a bit off.
2. The speakers are very average. I'd recommend getting a small portable bluetooth speaker and using that for your audio source if you're on the go. They work, so that's the important part.
3. I wish there was an interchangeable USB C port on the other side for display or even power. I think this would give some added flexibility on how you plug this thing in.
4. Not VESA mount supported. It's not a big deal for me as I bought this for it's portability... but for some, it could be a drawback. What I do wish they would've included is a 1/4" 20 mount on the sides. Then you can mount this to a separate accessory or even tripod.

Conclusions: If you're looking for a budget monitor that won't break the bank and will deliver fantastic visuals AND you don't care that much about internal sound, buy this monitor. Honestly, just their customer service ALONE will make me come back to this company for future products. Thanks, BOIFUN.

I wanted a monitor that was bigger than my old (2015) MacBook Air but not too large, so this one fit that requirement perfectly. Initially I had some issues connecting the two devices since none of the cables included worked with my computer so I had to get an HDMI cable. Once connected with the proper cables the set up was easy enough. The image quality is sharp and the monitor is really light weight, easy to carry around. Also, I contacted customer service to let them know about my issue and they were extremely responsive and helpful. Overall I'm very satisfied with the product and their great customer service!
